My D-Link device was working for the first few minutes when I set it up, but now the internet light refuses to light. I have opened ports, and even plugged it directly into my comcast modem and rebooted both multiple times. Internet is connected fine, cable is good (I've tried several other ones to be sure) but that internet light just stays off. My router does not show it on the device list (I have a Linksys router), so the router doesn't even know about it now. What could cause this? Is the little D-Link fried so soon?

1. Your location

Minneapolis MN

2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc)

Comcast Cable

3. Upload and download speeds

8mbit upload, 768kbit download

4. Modem make and model

Scientific Atlanta DPC2100 Series

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2

D-Link VTA-VD (whatever it is, not sure)

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC

For test: Modem---->Vonage Adapter (no pc or router connected)

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc

Internet light does not come on, no dailtone

8. Run this Voip Test: After the test has fully completed, in the Advanced Tab, click on "View Text" in the lower right hand corner. Copy-N-Paste that data into your post.

OK, your test results look good; it's beginning to look like your diagnosis of a dead VTA is correct. (Good troubleshooting, by the way.) Put your router back into the setup and re-boot everything in the right order- modem, wait, router, wait, VTA. If nothing happens with the VTA, push in the reset button and hold it down for about 30 seconds. If it still doesn't come on, then re-cycle power on it.

If it's still not working at this point, log on to your router and try again to see if it's being assigned an IP. If not, I'd conclude that infant mortality has taken it.
