I am just about to subscribe and I have two questions..
1) About taking my current phone number. The website says I can move it. If I sign up without moving my current phone number, can I do it later? If so is there a charge?
2) If I do sign up and move my phone number over to your service, when the number becomes active do I need to call my current provider and cancel, or since my number is now Vonage I am done with them? Also if I return everything within the 14 days, can I put my number back to the phone company? |

1) No charge.
2) (a) Vonage will handle the cancel. You do not have to do anything. (b) You should ask your local phone company that question, as they would be the ones that would port it back. |

Ok, so one more quick question, do most people sign up, test it, then move there current phone number, or sign up and move the current number at the same time? Thanks for this great place to ask questions.

Like any other consumer product, I would guess that most people do detailed and careful research, compare products and services then purchase outright.
That's what I did and so (I would guess) did most of the Forum members.
So to answer your question: Signup, move number and disconnect PSTN at the same time.
I've been on Vonage for 5 months now and I will never go back to PSTN. The freedom that Vonage provides has to be seen to be believed. |

You will need to fax your phone bill to Vonage, then depending on how nice and slow the Bell you are using is, it will take a couple of weeks. Sign up for the LNP at your initial order. You also need to sign a LOA, letter of auth., to move the number. You can do this at anytime after signup as well. |
