I called tech support here in Canada and the girl who answered didn't have a clue that there was a toll free number. I tried to tell her about it, but it went over her head. She asked her supervisor about it and he/she didn't know anything about it.
I then decided to call the tier 3 tech support in the states. Wow, if this was tier 3 then we are in trouble! This guy didn't have a clue what V-Access was. I had to break in down in squads for the ease of learning. I told him how to find the v-access numbers and there you can read all about it. I then had to explain to him how I found the toll free number. Man it was like talking to a kid, but he did listen to me. He put me on hold and then said he would call me back and which he did. Once he called me back he told me the toll free number doesn't work. I told him that is why I am calling. I explained to him that just because there is a V-Access number say for Florida that doesn't mean it is a local or as he called it a regional number. Well he agreed with me and he is going to look into it further. He said I will get an email or a phone call within 24-72 hours. Guess what? I forgot to ask for a trouble ticket number.
Well my fingers are getting tired and I am sure your eyes are too. Let's hope this gets fixed soon. |

I am still waiting for Vonage to see why the number is gone.
It is fine if you can find a local V-Access number, but when I travel, not every place has them, I enjoyed the toll free number. |

| canuck_ wrote: | | But now here's the catch!!! (or rather the problem I am experiencing) I've asked a friend in the UK to call me using a London UK V-Access number. He gets the Vonage prompt, dials my number in Canada, and then... nothing... the line hangs up!! I've had him try other UK V-Access numbers, same result. He tried also V-Access numbers from France, Italy, Spain, etc... same result!!! And get this: if he dials a V-Access number, and then when prompted enters my UK virtual number instead of my Canada number, the call goes through successfully!! |
Old thread, but I have an idea that might be worth trying.
I assume Vonage UK requires the UK dialing pattern. If you are calling a UK V-Access number and using a North American dialing pattern, it probably doesn't work.
Try dialing your number the way British people would dial it. e.g. if your number is 647-555-1212, dial 001-647-555-1212 on the UK V-Access line.
Give it a try and see if it works. |

The toll free V-Access number was working for a couple of months, but once again someone posted the number and it is gone. |
