PostPosted: Sun Dec 31, 2006 1:25 pm    Post subject: vonage suddenly not usable with comcast in Northern CA Reply with quote Back to top

I had Vonage for almost 4 years now and my girlfriend had it for 2.5 years. While over the years we suffered through some issues what is happening now is new. For a few weeks now the phone is almost unusable. People we call or that call us complain that they can't hear us anymore (in the middle of a conversation) and it happens regardless if we use a computer at the time or not. This is the same setup I had for years and it worked before.
Anybody else experiencing the same issue ? we have 2 comcast accounts and two different appliances for each line and both experience the same issue. They are hooked up to comcast cable with 6MB down and around 390 up.

thanks

The common link here seems to be Comcast. Try running the forum Voip test. How does it look?

Hello Steve >>> Do you mean that Vonage no longer works with comcast at all? I had the Voip test done and it says I can have 4 Voip connections at a time on my internet connection. I just moved to Novato and haven't yet installed my Vonage yet. I have been using Vonage for almost 2 years now without any problems.... I hope it works in Novato with Comcast.

Hello Claus>>> Where are you located in N. California?

Thanks
Anu

Not at all. The OP said he and his girlfriend are getting very poor service, not no service at all. I'm merely suggesting that when two customers with independent Vonage equipment but the same internet service are getting poor service, the common link needs to be examined.
