Hi
I am now seeking a replacement cordless phone, 5.8 GHz or higher. Something that has a working message waiting indicator....the thing that blinks when Vonage has a message waiting for me. Hopefully something that turns on the MWI when a message arrives and properly turns it off when I erase the message.
Anyone got any experience with any good phones?
Thanks mucho!

I've been very pleased with the Uniden series - 900, 2.4, and 5.8 Ghz. My latest, the EXAI-978 has your audio message waiting indicator, message waiting numbers, and caller id. The voice prompts make for easy programming so you don't have to keep the manual handy. I found one on eBay for a buck. |

I have a Uniden 5.8mhz that works great for that function.
I would avoid any 2.4mhz phone PERIOD ! |

Elvis,
Does your Uniden phone also have an answering machine? I would like to have a phone with ans machine in case I can't get Vonage to work and have to go back to the telco.

I am using a VTech 5.8 Mhz with 3 hand sets. One plugs in the Vonage adaptor and the other 2 just plugs in the ac outlet. Has voicemail indicator, but no answering machine. |

While I don't have experience with this particular phone, I've had luck with Panasonic cordless phones in general, and when I went to look for 5.8 GHz phones with a voice mail message waiting indicator AND an answering machine I found the Panasonic KX-TG5771S. It also has talking caller ID which I think is real cool. The base unit with one handset sells for $99.95 and additional handsets (KX-TGA570S) cost $59.95.
Another reason I like this phone is the keypad is backlit for use in a dark room like a bedroom at night, etc. For all this phone does it's worth the price. In fact I'm upgrading to this phone in a few days. I hope this helps! |

This looks like a good phone. I did a quick check and it has a lot of good reviews out there. Man, there are a lot of phones that no one seems to like! This one seems to be exceptional in this regard.
Would you be so kind as to give us an update after you get the phone and have a chance to check it out?
