Hi All,

Signed up about a month ago, with a local number on the main line (assigned by Vonage) and a second line with a FL number (assigned also by Vonage).
The problem I have is the main line can be called from any Vonage number without problems, but any incoming call from outside Vonage network gets a fast busy or an error in connection message.
Meanwhile, the second line works perfect. Voice quality is perfect for domestic and overseas calls on both lines.

Have been talking to Vonage's Tech support for a week, and they have verified the problem, but seems they are unable to correct it.

Any hint on what can I do?

I'm afraid only Vonage can fix this problem. I'd Email them using the forum contact page (menu, top left, Vonage Information, Contact Support). We're told that gets special attention.

Thanks Steve,

That was my first thought, and tried it a week ago. They answered with an email saying my line was on the debugging server, and they should be able to fix it soon.
Called Tech Support a couple days ago and today, but no one seems to know what's going on.

I really like Vonage's service. It works for me, except I'm not getting any incoming calls from outside.

Thanks for the feedback, Rich. I'm not happy to hear that the forum link didn't get you better response than that. I've been recommending that path for quite awhile.

Try going here: http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/wnp/en/Action/PECLanding

Enter your phone number and area code. Continue through this until it tells you who the current carrier is. Post back with what the current carrier is listed as and we can see if Vonage actually has that number at this time or if it may have been ported out by a previous holder of that number.

Thanks Xcrunxcs,

That was the key to solve the issue. I had to spend about 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support and went all the way through three tiers but finally they changed my number and now it works.

They check their numbers against the 411.com database, which showed the number as belonging to them. Finally they found the previous owner of the number was porting it out of Vonage to Qwest, so your link was more accurate than theirs.

from what i have been told they are suppose to use the link that Xcrunxcs provided to check "ownership" of telephone numbers.. just a case of getting someone that knows what they are doing... of course that is normally the problem with a lot of things..
