You're correct. That part of Elvis' advice doesn't apply in your case. |

I wanted to say thanks to Steve, Elvis and Talisman for your advice. I ended up gatting a hold of CS through email and was walked through a series of steps before being told that there was a problem with my wrtp54g router/voip device. I replaced it with a d-link wireless router and a PAP2 ver.2 and the problem continued, until CS "did something" to my Vonage adapter. So far I've gone three days without missing a known call, where I had been missing 6 out of 10 phone calls.
HOWEVER....now I'm dealing with constant static hiss which makes it difficult to hear the other person. The noise is barely audible on the other end. I've tried rebooting everything, putting distance between my pap2 and other electronic devices, putting my pap2 on the dmz, changing bandwidth saver settings, installing dsl noise filters, and unplugging my cordless phone. Interestingly, I tried connecting the PAP2 directly to the cable modem and can't get it to obtain a connection--the internet and power lights flash furiously, but the adapter never connects.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the line noise? |
