Product Information
Model Number VWR
Ethernet MAC
Software Versions
Gateway VWR-11.4.0-r060331-1.00.03-r060627.img
Boot Loader 1.3.8.1602

-Delivered on the 20th of Jan 07.
-I think they updated the firmware to the latest in the subsequent days as I would get the same problem i.e. trying to add a port to 'Advanced' -> 'virtual server' would come up with a blank screen.
-After a couple of calls to tech support the firmware was switched back to the one above and I was able to get to the add port screen just that once the ports were added to the 'applied rules' list on the right they would magically disappear. Don't know what would do it but they would be gone. Mind you when the ports were on the right side port forwarding did work for Bittorrent azureus.

to fix prob what seems to have worked for all of today and two restarts....

- static ip address for laptop 192.168.15.x subnet mask 255.255.225.0 gateway 192.168.15.1
- In the routers 'home' -> 'dhcp' at the bottom is a list of 'lan clients' I checked 'reserve' next to 192.168.15.x and hit appied and it moved to the 'Static Addresses' list
- go to routers 'advanced' -> 'virtual server' and now that you can add ports with the old firmware create your 'rules' and remember to shift the to the 'applied rules' section on the right and hit apply. This site may help http://portforward.com/ ahh!! and check that at the top of this page the correct IP address was selected 192.168.15.2 in the drop down.

right does someone know how to use the 'Custom Port Forwarding' section on the 'virtual server' page. help would be appreciated, maybe that turns into a better work around???

Would placing our computers in DMZ (demilitarized zone) keep it within WEP? I placed the computer in DMZ before this method and that used to do the trick. How does MAC filtering work on this thing in case WEP does not work?

I think that seems to have done the trick for the moment. My router doesn't ever hang but this has been pretty annoying. The VWR is truly a rubbish router it lacks a lot of function and is too buggy to be released. I would send it back only that I have been sent in instead of the wired Motorola VT2442 for free and this would have been £30 extra and i've got my (rubbish but better) belkin 54g wireless tucked away as backup for now. If this really acts up!

UK SKY users beware of Vonage problem ->
http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic6317-0-asc-60.html
there is a work around on the last page i think but not tested by me because I Don't have sky here. Mind you there are not many complaints after the date of the post.

Stick with Vonage! Im sick of paying too much for calls in UK and id rather make the slight bit extra effort and shake off the shackles of BT and fixed line forever for slight teething problems!
Get the D-Link VTA for free and then get your own Wireless router... simple solution??
oooh and tell them I referred you! PM personal message me to get in touch for my name and address and we both get money off!

D-Link VTA Phone Adapter

If you got the DLINK, refuse it, send it back, and request the Motorola. The DLINK is a pile of crap with nothing but problems if you have any kind of home network to use it with.

Here's another one to add to the list:

Tried the D-Link VWR. Could receive incoming calls ok. Calls to any PTSN line (outslde Vonage) were one-way audio only: outgoing audio could be heard on the other end but incoming audio would not work. Brought an older WRT54GP2 into the account, moved line(s) to that device, calls now work as expected (two-way audio). Will be sending back VWR for refund or exchange.

Can't believe Vonage would sell this thing without making sure it worked first. They should test their devices before shipping them. And I'm talking about to the individual customers.

This thread re-affirms my belief that you should get a vanilla phone adapter (no wireless, no router, no 4-port switch) and put it behind a good gateway router (there are lots of them out there).

Had my Linksys replaced with this DLink on Friday and I must say that it is much less of an achievement than the Linksys.
My Linksys was dropping calls and network connections and appeared to be re-booting so Vonage agreed to replace it.

Came upon an interesting problem yesterday writing files to a share on one of the PC's on the LAN side, thought it was some kind of weird XP thing and worked for hours on it before deciding to put my Linksys back on the network. BANG!! Problem went away immediately. Called Vonage talked to a lot of different support people throughout the day without any of them being much in the way of support, why cant these TS folks take notes in the account?

Anyway, have a replacement DLink coming my way again to see if problem goes away, probably doubtful.. I will probably have to buy another Linksys to get it all working again... Vonage say they do not send out Linksys, must have made Cisco mad or something...

Also, cannot get port forwarding to work... try to create a new rule in Virtual Server, but keep on getting a blank page with nothing...

And, also cannot connect to my D-Link wireless Print Server to change admin settings!!!

I hate D-Link!!!!

After spending hours on the phone with tech support last night trying to figure out why my phone sounded like someone frying an egg in the background I purchased on of the these from my local electronics store to replace my Linksys WRTP54G. The phone sounds great and customer support was nice enough to kick in a few $$ for my troubles.

Does anyone have a work around for the virtual server issue that results in a blank screen when you try to add a new port?

Besides needing to open a few holes and the interface being bad at best everything else seems to work ok.

Two more things that don't work...

1) I can't get RDP (Remote Desktop) working, even with "Custom Port Forwarding".

Enable [Checked]
Application: RDP
Protocol: TCP and UDP
Source IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Source Netmask: 0.0.0.0
Destination IP Address: 192.168.15.2
Destination Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Destination Port Start: 3389
Destination Port End: 3389
Destination Port Map: 3389

2) Sending e-mail is VERY slow. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but my SMPT e-mail server requires me to set my port to 2500 (not 25).

Everything worked before, with my Linksys router and PAP2, but my PAP2 was dying and so I made the switch.

Any word on when (if) they're going to fix this?

NOTE TO ALL:

I was able to get e-mail to speed up by opening up ports 2500 AND 113 to my local ip via "Custom Port Forwarding".

HOWEVER, after I set up the same port forwarding for the other ip addresses on my network, everything slowed right down again.

Still can't get Remote Desktop to work outside of my LAN.
