Version 12.x will be pushed to your device when it is ready for release into production and it is done via TFTP just like any other firmware in the past. This is not something the customer does or has control over.

I have confirmed with the Device Development team that the VWR firmware version 12.0 has a timeframe of a May deployment and it does address the lost router settings issue.
In the previous post, I did read the date incorrectly. When reading the firmware, VWR-11.4.1-r060331-1.00.03-r061127.img the 11.4.1-r060331 represents the Voice module code for the TI chipset with a complied date of 3/31/06. The second part of 1.00.03-r061127 is the D-Link code for the router and was compiled on 11/27/06.
VWR-11.4.1-r060815-1.00.04-r070401.img is the obvious newer of the 2 and is where you should be. If you PM me your MAC, I can confirm whether or not you are set for this version. While it is newer, you will not see any enhancements or improvements in the interface. And the only reason you may be on older version if when you worked with someone from one of the lower levels of tech support sometime in the past, they rolled you back.

Thanks for doing the research and for the clarification.
I am on the older firmware. Someone from tech support today sent me a link to the newer firmware image but I don't see any way to use it.
Anyway, as reported here and elsewhere, it doesn't address the issues I'm after. Looking forward to May!! PM sent.

In January, it was "the next few months"
In February, it was "May deployment"
Its May; Like you, I'm anxiously awaiting further details of a roll-out plan
I'm guessing there's been a considerable shift to the right since I haven't seen any updates since February. I pray for a pleasant surprise.

Post subject: DDNS client
Has anyone had success/failure with the DDNS client? I tried setting it up today and it doesn't work, you can't click the "apply" button when the "Enabled" radio button is selected.
Did some checking, ended up here, and saw the huge list of known issues. It's interesting to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the VWR is a pile of junk. Every WAP I've owned from DLink fits into the same category, the only reason I selected this one was because I just moved and wanted an all-in-one. DLink was the only brand they offered at the time.
I'm considering exchanging it for a standalone VT adapter, and using my own choice of WAP/router. I used to have a Belkin Pre-N router that could be accessed nearly half a block away from the house.

Post subject: I spoke with a Vonage Level 3 tech for over an hour
I've been using a D-link VWR for the past month and have had many issues with it. After the usual 5 or 6 emails back and forth with support (where they kept asking me the same questions that were answered earlier in the email and asking me to try the same "fixes" over and over), I finally got them to connect me with a Level 3 tech. (Level 3 tech support happens to be in the U.S., not offshore.) I am a computer network technician by profession and he and I had a very nice and informative conversation.
My issues and his responses:
Issue: Frequent "clicks" in my phone
Response: D-link is working on a fix
Issue: DDNS does not update
Response: D-link is working on a fix
Issue: Saved router configuration does not restore properly
Response: D-link is working on a fix
Issue: Rebooting router often reverts configuration back to default
Response: D-link is working on a fix
Issue: Frequent dropout - I can hear other person, they can't hear me
Response: Probably a QOS issue with the router
At this point he offered a very interesting comment: "When you need 3 functions, don't try to save a few bucks and buy a single device to do all 3."
Bottom line: I was issued an RMA for the router to be replaced with a stand-alone, single port adapter (which the tech said is MUCH better at voice QOS). I'll set up my own network behind the adapter using my old Linksys router and a wireless access point. Those two devices never failed me!
My advice: STAY AWAY FROM THE D-LINK VWR. YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH IT.

Does anyone make a wireless
Vonage
compatible router. D-Stink stopped producing the VWR. Which by the way worked O.K. for me. The two problems I've had are the save-restore configuration not working and the thing defaults everytime the power blinks. The Linksys That burned out was great but even though I bought it on newegg they said I had to return it to
Vonage
for service. Imagine how P.O.'d I was When
Vonage
replaced it with this piece of junk. If I can't find a wireless
Voip
router soon I'm gonna have to pull the plug on
Vonage
and use the Magic Jack.

Post subject: Where's the patch
There should have been a whole bunch of honest insults in here for the infuriating untruths being told by
Vonage
about supporting its customers with a revision to the VWR firmware, but then the post may have been deleted or edited, so please use your imagination.
