Hi,
I have the RT31P2. I have been using it for almost 2 years now. But recently after I moved and tried to hook up.... the power to the RT31P2 is not coming on. How do I check if the power adapter is faulty or the RT31P2 is faulty?
Linksys Power Adapter Model No AD 12/1C Model: AM-1201000D41 Input: 120VAC 60Hz 23W Output: 12VDC 1000mA Plug in Class 2 Transformer
What should I do? I don't think I can just buy the power adapter. Can I buy some other adapter, if yes then what should I look for in the new adapter (like the input/output should match and what else).
Any suggestions for finding replacement for power adapter. I don't want to spend for getting the whole new equipment.
Thanks Anu |

If you have a voltmeter and know how to use it, unplug the adapter from the RT31P2. Plug it into the wall and measure between the two contacts on the plug that goes to the RT31P2. You should get 12 volts there. If you don't have a voltmeter, perhaps a friend does? |

Will this help me to find that the RT31P2 is working?
Thanks Anu |

Yes. Basically, if the voltage is there, then the PAP2 is probably bad. If the voltage is not there, then the power adapter is definitely bad (and maybe the PAP2 as well). |

A far more crude test is to leave the RT31P2 connected to the power supply...after an hour or so, see if both of them are warm. If the power supply's cold, then you've got a bad power supply. If you have a cold RT31 and a warm power supply, your RT31's dead. VERY crude, but mostly effective. |
