Post subject: THIS SERVICE ****. PERIOD. DON'T SIGN UP!
We have had problems with
Vonage
since we got it 6 months ago. This is absolutely the worst service I've ever paid for. My cell phone bill has gone up imensely trying to solve tech support issues.
Vonage
is a DISHONEST company and should warn people the service does not work as adverstised for everyone. Even if 90% of the people using this service don't have problems, it does not excuse the fact that others can no longer enjoy regular, normal phone service. I also don't enjoy dealing with agents who can barely speak English. Even if it is our cable company not providing good service,
Vonage
has misrepresented themselves as providing a reliable service. I'll bet this message will be deleted because the truth hurts. Even one of the Techs told me this service is in a beta stage and has too many potential problems to be ready for regular use. If this post offends anyone - GOOD

Why would you find it desirable to offend the people here? This isn't a
Vonage
owned site. It's just a group of folks trying to help others, because we know full well that the technical support offered by
Vonage
isn't enough.

Vonage
can only vouch for their service - not your ISP. If your ISP has problems, as you state they do, then why don't you go spew your attitude to them - maybe they can fix it and then you'll be happy.

On that issue, I have some sympathy for Ncc's viewpoint.
Vonage
indicates in their television advertising campaign that setting up the service is a snap. They don't give any warnings about pitfalls that may be waiting for people with IPS issues. I wish they'd spend a bit less on advertising and a bit more on technical support.

This post is a real case of the trash in our country whom thinks everything is someone elses fault not their own. The main thing I have to sat to NNN is get an education on a product and understand what you have before slamming it. I have been a happy user of the eservice for over two years. The internet has many resources and helping websites as well as this forum to help people like you. Your filth is as bad as what is on the movie and television screens. Please ask for help and maybe you will find an education on the product that really does work.
I am sorry you had problems but if your approach to them was like this I would hang up on you!!
I have been working electronics all my adult life and this is the worst attitude I have ever heard and it is unbecoming of NNN and the forum that has the receive this garbage.
Now, NNN ask a question and just maybe you can fix the problem.

I feel for ya, I went thru all that also in my first ......over six months.. and Customer Support can be frusterating as heck, its that language barrier. Myself being strapped for moola I wanted my
Vonage
to work ( good savings ) ......eventually it did and does wonderfully...Boiled down to my isp Service and a battle with them. Alls good now for me.. but again i can hear your pains

You're an idiot for posting twice to defeat the word filter. This is an independant forum, and we're just a bunch of guys. I don't like reading this crap when I'm trying to help folks, so if you have nothing constructive, see your way to the door.
and have a Happy New Year.

Having dealt with
Vonage
customer service many times over the past 6 weeks, I too can sympathize with the original poster's feelings.
Vonage
customer service
does suck. Easily among the worst I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty. It's not just that they outsource to India and you often have to deal with a language barrier. Even when the front line tech is understandable, they just read from scripts. There's often no underlying comprehension of whatever problem you are discussing. Sadly, even level 2 in the US can have that problem...
The
Vonage
"
service
", however, is a different issue. It can suck or it can be excellent - but in either case doesn't necessarily have anything to do with
Vonage
. The problems with the "service" usually have to do with
Voip
and broadband in general, rather than any specific company.
Voip
is not a good solution in many cases, regardless of the service provider.
That being said, it is also true that
Vonage
is very misleading in their advertising. But you know what? So is just about every company who markets to the general public. That's the nature of sales.
Fortunately, there is this forum and lots of other info on the Internet which can educate people in advance. Of course, people shouldn't have to be doing research for everything they purchase - but there is also a 30-day trial period in the case of
Vonage
. Yes you can end up screwed if problems start after the 30 days, but if you really did have problems from the start there's no excuse - and if they are not providing what they advertise you can cancel and fight any charges through your CC company.
I will in no way ever defend Vonage's current practices though. Customers have a right to be mad when they get crappy customer service and/or are mislead - and
Vonage
is guilty of both.
Unfortunately, even if the complaint is valid, the original poster lost any credibility by assuming this was a
Vonage
owned site and by double posting.
Personally, I wish
Vonage
support was one-hundreth as helpful as the forum regulars here and posting something to try and offend them under an assumption was just..., well..., offensive.

See that's the downfall in the original post. Hasn't read the disclaimer at the top of the webpage, nor any of the forum rules.
Too bad. Too few like to troubleshoot. Too many like to moan, groan, and complain (often loudly)
