I want to see who has the the most success with Vonage and with which phone adapter. I have the Moto one and have had situations where the phone call drops after dialing a number and have had faxes that fail about 20% of the time. Any linksys users out there? Are you having better luck with Vonage service? |

I have the Linksys PAP2 TA and have not had any problems making local or LD calls to Australia, Canada and Hong Kong. No dropped calls or poor voice quality, either.
I don't use my line for faxes so I cannot comment on that part of Vonage.
Maybe you should give Packet8 a try and see if works out better for you. |

The Motorola has better sound quality, especially if you are using multiple phones on it. The down side is the Motorola has poor routing. So if you doing anything fancy (ie server, gaming and etc.), you have to get your own router, but that comes with a cost because if you put the Moto behind your own router, you loose QoS (which was a prob for me because I use a lot of bandwidth on the Internet and need the QoS to keep my voice calls from becomming choppy). So... I got the Linksys from Vonage, which has great routing but poor voice quality. I hear a faint local radio station on all my phone calls, my Tivo/DirecTV no longer can make outbound calls, and my answering machine at my house can no longer sense when someone picks up the phone (due to lower line voltage from the Linksys). Hope that helps in your decision making. |

I have a Moto VT1005 and sound quality is excellent.
BUT I can't access from within my network virtual hosts on a server I run behind my VT1005 (rest of the work can, but me). When my VT1005 is behind a router I can access virtual hosts but voice become choppy.
Conclusion: VT1005 seems to be an excellent choice if you don't do "anything fancy". |
