Tones not being recognized

Recently (last 3 months or so) I have had many occasions when voicemail systems and other tone recognition systems (where you need to enter your SSN or account number and PIN) do not recognize the numbers I have pressed on my phone. My thought is that it is Vonage - I have tried the same thing from my cell and works fine. I have also tried it from various phones connected to the Vonage Adaptor - and none of them work.

One possible solution is to change your bandwidth saver setting to the medium option, 50Kbps IIRC. This worked to fix it for me, ymmv

I had the same problem and setting the PIN number online just didn't work. A call to Vonage confirmed that my PIN had been reset to the default "1234". Using that PIN, I was able to set my PIN again over the phone.

e-mail service and tell them of the problem. There is a setting in the modem they have to change. They had to do this twice: the first time I noticed the problem and then again after new firmware was loaded on to my modem.

Each time the problem was resolved in a matter of hours.

The fix the support reps can do did not work for me. They instead sent me out the Linksys adaptor to replace the moto. I just got it like 10 minutes ago, haven't been able to see if it fixed my problem or not since I can't get a dial tone (even tho the phone light is lit green)..

Had the same problem but now it's working. The service rep did a change digit relay mode from the default of 1 to 2 . She tried 3 and it worked great to the call in conference server but it killed my ability to retrieve my Vonage Voicemail. With the setting at 2, I can enter the conference ID correctly 80% of the time and still get my VM. Everything about Vonage is a compromise but it's still cheaper.
