Hi all,
I am having problems with my Vonage VWR Router. When I set it up initially it gave the dialtone successfully and worked like a charm. I set up my Wireless LAN by changing the SSID and adding WEP Encryption settings. Didnt check the phone after the settings.
About 5 days later someone told me that they were trying to call me. I checked the phone and there was no dialtone. I repowered the router, didnt work, called the Vonage support line.
They made me repower the router and the NTL cable modem 2-3 times. Also resetted the router to its default settings by pressing the button for 30 secs. They also attempted to update the firmware of the router, which they said that it didnt work. They think the device is faulty and are going to get it changed.
After the router has powered up and power light becomes solid. The phone 1 light just keeps flashing all the time. When i noticed the problem initially both the phone 1 and 2 lights kept flashing together.
Firstly I want to know if anyone else has a similar problem and if they have managed to fix it or not? Any suggestions would be helpful. If you have any questions clarifications do ask..
Many thanks Khizer |

first off - for future reference, if you noticed that both phone ports are blinking - just leave it like that. it means its downloading the latest firmware from the system. now, if the first phone portkeeps blinking all the time even though the power is already solid - that's not normal, and its not supposed to be like that.
what you can do is have the technician try to switch your phone line to the second port - see if it would make any difference. if issue still the same (meaning port 1 remains to be the one blinking when it should be the second one) most likely, device is defective,
but you mentioned that you can get on the internet when computer is plugged into the VWR right? hmm if i were you i wouldnt want to give up on that router just yet. i would exhaust all t/s first before concluding that that is really the case. |
