Can someone please advice the best (proven to work) way to set up a PAP2 linksys phone adapter with MTNL's broadband service TRIB T10 service in India
Is is as simple as...
MTNL DSL > MODEM > Phone adapter > Phone?
OR I need a router in between
MTNL DSL > MODEM > Router > Phone adapter > Phone
Also does MTNL provide static IP address for each device connected to the Modem or it throws a dynamic Ip everytime a device is connected?
Thanks in advance... |

If you want to use the internet while the phone service is hooked up, you'll need a router. Unfortunately, I have on details on setting it up with your ISP. However, if you search to Voip forum, you'll find a ton of threads relating to the use of Vonage in India. |

Hi,
Is your modem provided by MTNL with 1 USB and 1 Ethernet. You can use the USB slot to your PC/Laptop and the Ethernet slot to the PAP2. If not then you will need a router. Remember you need to have different IP for the router and PAP2.
I don't know about the IP address issue, you call MTNL and ask if they have static IP. You can write down the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway for your ISP by running START>>RUN>>CMD then type ipconfig/all.
If you get power to the PAP2 but no dial tone then you might need to enter a IP address for the PAP2 manually. You have to do this step as per the instructions under Chapter 4 in the manual of PAP2. If you still have problems let me know?
