Why cant something be developed for caller ID like the Click-2-Call feature? They could make an application that could do caller ID and outbound calls. Since all incoming calls are listed on our web login anyway......

i agree, see...
Verizon DSL offers IOBI...

I had them both. I installed IOBI, I would get the pop up on my screen seconds before the phone even rang.

That's what you're talking about right...

Yes Vonage NEEDS their own software that tells me who is calling.

maybe Vonage should make a contract with IOBI

Yes. This is exactly what I am talking about. We need a Vonage APPLICATION that would do some, if not all, of the following: Click-2-Talk, incoming Caller ID that appears on screen, a voice mail indicator and outgoing/incoming minutes used. Maybe the user could even pick and choose what they need to install/use. I am sure Vonage could do this, as it would be pulled diretly from our web account. It could sit in our system tray and a simple mouse-hover could tell you everything needed.

yeah, IOBI worked excellent... I could manage all my calls too
like.. do a quick map search, add them to my phone book, block them, etc..

I have to believe that Vonage wants this too

If Vonage is listening - please make click to call two-way. It seems such a simple thing to offer.

Our Windows software product, VONaLink SoloRecord does screen pop, Outlook Contacts search, etc. based on caller ID. The software works by monitoring network packets. The primary function is for recording calls. A secondary feature is call rejection.

I have PhoneTray working with my Vonage connection, here is what I have and what you will need:

1) A voice modem in your computer.

Here are a few voice modems that have been tested and work:
AOpen FM56-PX (Caller ID and Voice)
Encore ENF656-ESW-INPR (Caller ID and Voice)
You will find the above list on the traysoft forum at:
http://forums.traysoft.com/
The modem I have installed is:
Jaton Wincom 56k V92 Pci Intel/Ambient with Voice/Caller ID
The jaton unit is available at Amazon for less than $25.

Install the modem per the installation instructions, connect the modem between your Linksys and your telephone.

2) Download and install the PhoneTray Free software at:
http://phonetray.traysoft.com/index.htm
From here you will need to configure the software.
The number of options for blocking (zapping) and number recognition is very impressive.

Your computer has to be on for the blocking to work, when the computer is off the phone system will work but without the call screening.

I ended up adding additional messages to give to zapped callers from these sites:
http://www.payphone-directory.org/sounds.html
http://www.dmine.com/phworld/sounds/

Not sure about that, however I would try it to see what happens. I would also contact traysoft and ask them.

NCID is a tool that can be used for this as well. It has three components: (1) a tool to get the caller ID information and pass to the NCID server; (2) a server that gets caller ID information from various sources and passes to clients; (3) a variety of clients, including (a) one to transmit the information to a pager, and (b) one to display a pop-up on the screen.

VONaLink ScreenPop released. It has all the caller ID, call rejection, and click2call features of SoloRecord without the recording capability, priced at $29 USD.
