Caller ID Software?

I have a cable modem i lease it from charter and i have a standard vonage phone line. I am not very smart in all of this and the things that everyone is saying is confusing me. I just want a simple Free program that will show my caller id on my laptop. No router i just have the cable modem conected to the vonage device the vonage device consected to the pc and the phone connected to the vonage device. If my modem is caller id compatable will Yac work with this configuration or what will.

Does your laptop have a built-in modem ? Programs like Yac uses an analog voice modem. If so, you need to biy a phone line splitter for a few dollars. The splitter allows you to plug your phone and your computer modem to the same Vonage phone jack.

Yes my laptop has a built in modem. I dont know if it is caller id compatable but i can try what you said and see. I just dont understand what to do. You said to plug the modem into the phone jack on the vontage device along with the accuall phone? I dont know how to plug my modem into anything? Is that the phone jack on the back of my pc right by my ethernet jack.? If so i take a phone cord from there and plug it into the splitter alnong with accual phone cord from my phone and then plug the splitter into the vonage jack and this will make it so when i recieve a call the info will go to my pc and to my phone right?
