I registered on this forum because I hope I can get some help with my Vonage service. I've been on the phone twice now for almost two hours total trying to get it working again and it's not happening.

I have a Linksys WRTP54G router, it's hooked up right to the cable modem and the device had been working great for about 3 months. Last week our internet started cutting in and out, and I noticed that the lights on the router kept resetting themselves. I decided to replace the router.

When I got the new router I tried to enter the WAN MAC ID on Vonage's site to register and it said invalid, so I ended up calling them. After over an hour of unplugging, plugging in, resetting the modem and the router, the phones started working, kind of.

The past few days we have been losing dialtone, calls have not been coming in, calls are not going out - we get that error tone from the phone company. When calls come in CID isn't showing up. Sometimes after we hang up the phones ring themselves and no one is there. The phone lights on the router keep going on and off. The power light on the router blinks and Vonage says its not an issue. Also, every time we place a call we get two small beeps before it starts ringing now - that never happened before.

Last night I spoke to Vonage again and she had me unplug the router and she changed some things 'on her end'. I had to connect a wired phone to it, and test it. Dialtone came up right away, so she was satisfied and got me off the phone. As soon as I switched back to the other phones we were not able to place calls again. Even putting the wired one back in does not allow calls to go through.

We have two lines, and the same thing happens on both. Needless to say I'm a bit frustrated. What can I try before I call Vonage up, again?

had experienced some issues with some cable companies about a week ago (WAN) but it somehow stabilized right now.. observe your set up for 1 more day
lights must be okay

power = blue
ethernet 1-4 = on
Phone 1 - 2 Fast Blinking Phone is off-hook or in use
Phone1 - 2 Slow Blinking Voicemail Messages Waiting

Internet On WAN port connectivity (WRTP54G is connected to cable or DSL modem.)
Internet Blinking WAN port activity (sending or receiving data)

I had almost the same issue. It was fine for about two months then went bad. Heres what caused mine.
The cable co had installed an ACplug-in power signal booster into the line going into my office years ago. That unfortunately is where i later installed my network and Vonage phone router. What happened was the cable signal eventually fried the Vonage router because it was always pumping a tremendous signal strength directly into the router.
The cable removed it and i have not had any issues since.
Take a look around your cable connections. If you see anything plugged into your cable line AND into a 110v AC socket. pull it out and throw it in the trash.
