I have an issue with dropped connections that makes me think my router is dying, unless everyone else is getting the same thing? In hich case Vonage is dying Evil or Very Mad

I am in Burlington, Ontario with Cogeco, but the same use to happen in Mississauga on Rogers so I do not susect the cable provider.

I have a Linksys RT31P2 that was bought a little over two years ago.
The physical connection is Cogeco - RT31P2 - PhoneLine and one ethernet in used to connect to the intenal network so QOS shoudl be fine and there is no heavy traffic load.

In fact I have removed all the LAN network leaving just the phones and it still dropped calls.

Sometimes I can be ona call for an hour with no issue, then I can never stay on for more than a few minutes. Anyone trying to call in after the call is dropped get's either busy or the voicemail.

Is it worth replacing the router? If so how canI keep my same number it appears every new system has to have a new account?

Any help and advise much appreciated.

For fullness here is my speed test under normal conditions.

have you tried adjusting your bandwidth ? ( in your web account-feature)
i'd suggest the normal sound quality setting. that'd take care of your issues about dropped connections.

Thanks, I will give that a try.
It was at 90kbps so I have dropped it to 30kbps and will report back.

Hi, I had the same problem with the same router. I found that it's the phone port the problem. When I connect a old linksys pap2 adaptor in the ethernet port of the router I don't have dropped calls but when I use the phone port I have problem.

If you don't want to pay for another router ask Vonage for a simple adaptator (these are free) and plug this in the router. It's my setup right now and I have no problem.
