Post subject: Legal issues involved in using US phone in INDIA
I am based in US and currently visiting INDIA. I am a
Vonage
customer. I have brought the router with me to INDIA. I can plug it to any broadband connection and use it as the same US phone(i.e. the phone number remains the same US phone number). If I make any calls through the phone to any US number it will be local call for me. But I can't make any calls to INDIAN phone numbers as local calls.
I am wondering if there is any legal issues involved if I make calls to the US from this
Vonage
phone.
Any response or any pointer to this will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
RNK

There are no US legal issues (but I'm not a lawyer). There may be legal issues in India banning the use of
Voip
, but a lot of people seem to be doing it. There has been mention in the forum of protests from licensed telephone providers there. Do a search.
