If you go here

http://www.vonage.com/help.php?category=93&nav=5

you will find all the users guides for every Vonage adapter they sell or sold in the past. Hope this helps,

And if that doesn't get it done for you, then post the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum, and we'll see what we can do.

For years I had no problems with my Vonage adaptor being ahead of my Netgear wireless router. Then beginning Nov 16 I began losing connectivity off & on randomly. So I contacted Brighthouse and they said to trade in my Toshiba cable modem for the Webstar.

Intermittent connectivity loss problem continued. So I talked to BH tech support. I was told that the problem was the firewall in the adaptor and that I should contact Linksys since it was probably theirs. So I contacted Linksys and they told me the problem was too complicated for them to resolve. (rolling eyes)

So I moved the Netgear ahead of the Motorola and I have less loss of internet but still some.

I'm LOST! I liked having the Vonage adaptor ahead of the router because Vonage is my only phone line (I cut the cord to Verizon last year).

Let me add that when the Vonage adaptor was first in line I still had my phone working when the rest of my network could not access the internet. As the BH tech said, apparently I have too many firewalls. What should I do?

First off, your Voip numbers are good, so no problem there.

Now, you say that when the Vonage box is first, your Vonage keeps working when you're getting connectivity problems to the internet through the Netgear. Then you say that when the Netgear is first you still have internet connectivity problems. Is that correct?

Assuming I've read things correctly, the issue is clearly with the Netgear. With Vonage first you have continuous phone service but internet problems through the router, suggesting a router issue. When the router is first, with the Vonage box essentially out of the picture, you still have internet issues. You've replaced the modem and still have problems. That leaves the Netgear. Get with them and get that router fixed.

Only 1 flaw in that assessment. I have the problems even when I'm not using the Netgear at all. I still feel, as I was told by BH, the problem lies with the firewall in the Vonage adaptor, which I'm told is ALSO a router.

I've been having similar problems. Except I have no router, my Vonage device is the router. But anyway. When I hook up my Vonage router to my cable modem, the problems happen. Usually about 20 min into internet activity, the cable modem will just restart, the lights on it start blinking and it just reconnects, if I'm lucky. Other times, it just stays disconnected until I do a power refresh thing, by unplugging the Vonage device and stuff. Well that will just keep me back on the internet for maybe another 20 min before the process happens all over again. But if my computer is connected directly to my cable modem, there are no problems, so the main source of the issue is my Vonage device.

My location is Ga, USA

ISP is Adelphia Cable internet, but I believe Comcast merged with them or is currently doing so.

Vonage Router, from what I saw on it, Linksys RTP300

My setup is PC-Vonage-Cable Modem

So the problem is every time I connect my Vonage Router to my cable modem, the issues occur.

Hmmm. But you also have connectivity problems with the router ahead of the Vonage device. I assume you meant that your computer was plugged into the router, not the Vonage device when you made that assessment. If so, it's hard to see how the Vonage device is at fault.

Maybe you're actually having cable issues. We seem to have eliminated everything else.

Your packet losses on the downlink are high and your round trip time is very high. Please plug the computer directly into the modem and repeat the test.

Like I said, I do but not as often. I'd like to eliminate the firewall in the Vonage router. What you're missing is I don't have any problem when the Vonage adaptor/ router is not there!
