1. Your location - France
2. Your ISP name and type - Neuf ADSL
3. Upload and download speeds - 3118.585 Kbps (389.823 Ko/sec)
4. Modem make and model - Sagem F@st 3302
5. Type of Vonage adapter used - RT31P2
6. Setup of Network - Sagem Modem/Wireless --> RT31P2

7. Issue you are experiencing -
I have had Vonage for 18 mos without issue. I changed out my ADSL router/wireless modem (it was an Inventel modem/wireless router). The network works fine when the RT31P2 is not plugged into network and I can see the admin page of the RT31P2 via direct ethernet connection when it is disconnected from modem. BUT, when router is plugged into modem, the whole system comes down after 30 seconds. The Sagem reboots itself and then goes down again after 30 seconds or so. When the Vonage router is disconnected, the rest of the system stabilizes again. I have tried turning doing a full system reset on the RT31P2, disabling its DHCP and NAT, and cloned the MAC address. The modem still reboots continuously. I should also add that the ISP added its own Voip service with the modem change (the modem has a Voip phone port as well).

Any insights? Again, the system worked fine until I swapped modems. I'm at a total loss. Thank you!

I don't usually like jumping to this kind of conclusion, but it sounds as if your ISP is doing this deliberately. Either that or there's some fundamental incompatibility with your new modem and the RT31P2. In either case, a frank discussion with your ISP would be in order.

Do you know if your new modem works with other, non-Vonage routers?

have you manually changed the ip address of your rt31p2? Or could this be an instance of conflicting ip addresses?

I believe the rt31p2 should have 192.168.15.1 what ip address does your new modem/wireless router have?

The modem's IP is 192.168.30.x, so I'm assuming this should not be a conflict, correct?

I don't have another router to try with the modem to see if it would conflict as well.

It seems like it is something conflicting with this new modem/wireless router, since the Vonage rt31p2 was functioning fine with the old modem/wireless. Has anyone heard of any modem settings or Vonage router settings that would cause the modem to crash?Thanks.

I can understand that your modem IP is 192.168.30.xxx but you said that it came with integrated Voip phone ports which might have 192.168.15.1 IP address for it.

In other words, it needs separate IP addresses for each component. As a result, the integrate Voip port might be conflicting with your rt31p2. Change the IP address on the rt31p2 to a different subnet all together or to something like, 192.168.30.250 that way it has a high enough IP address to not produce any conflicts with the ones given out by your new modem.

it's worth a try.
