Ever since I switched over to Verizon Fios I am NOT able to put my Vonage router 1st in the chain. I have to put it 2nd after the Verizon router. Now I can't be downloading while using the phone OR people on the other side can't hear me. When I used to have the Vonage router first it was NOT a problem, because it would prioritize the call over other traffic.
I have spend hours on the phone with Vonage tech support but I am back where I started. Because I download all the time this is a problem. Can anyone please tell me what the fix is for this if any.
If I cannot get this problem resolved I will have to drop the Vonage service, no other choice.
THanks in advance!!!!

Does the Verizon router have a QoS function? If so, you need to set it to favor the Vonage box.
Why can' t the Vonage box go first? Is the Verizon box a modem as well as a router? |

The Vonage box used to go first when I had Comcast Internet. Now that I switched over to Verizon FIOS it won't get a dial tone if I hook it up first in line. Vonage does not have a fix for this. |

Interesting. Did they even explain why? |

Have a look at [web]http://www.fiosfaq.com[/web]. I don't have FIOS yet, but I will Thursday, but from what I've read so far Vonage and Verizon VoiceWing (which I use) are supposed to work right out of the box without any port forwarding on the Actiontec router. |

They have NOT explained why - BUT here is how they get out of it. They told me "Don't download when you are planning to use the phone" ! Well that's impossible because I am always pretty much downloading and that was never a problem before when the Vonage modem was set 1st in the chain. I don't know but this is leaving a bad tast in my mouth and since they can't come up with a solution, I think I am calling it quits. I have also tried the QOS settings in the FIOS router and still the same crap! |

I guess I understand- but, from your description, it does sound as if this mess is Verizon's problem. Maybe if you threatened to leave they would get it together. |

You should have a pdf manual for this router and firewall. It gives an example configuration that you are seeking.
I took the following steps: #1 speed test my connection taking note of downlink and uplink speeds.
#2 Go to broadband connection in the actionTec and Tell the actionTec the max up and down from the speed test (see manual for specifics)
#3 done. |
