I think it would be neat if through the wireless network the caller ID could display (unobtrusively) on the TV screen. |

You can do this if you have a satelite system (Directv or Dish) that support this and you have it plugged into a phone jack that has your Vonage on it. Most of the new receivers has this feature built in.

Cable? Did you say cable? How primitive!
Many fully modified DirecTV/TIVOs here, with no problem "dialing" out. either. |

Yeah but you don't live in a forest of trees so that you cannot see the satelites. I tried to go DirectTV and they sand "nocando". So I am stuck with cable.
Lucky you! |

There are lots of devices to do this already, but it can only be done to an RCA video signal (the yellow jack on your TV/VCR) it cannot be done accross all channels via the Coax jack, not a problem, it just means you wire it like this...
Coax from Ant. or Cable company > VCR or Cable box (which you will use as the tuner) > Yellow RCA out > CallerID device > TV (which you'll keep set on input: Video 1)

This is also supported in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows Vista's Media Center, if you have your Vonage phone line connected to your computer's modem, and that Modem supports Caller ID (usually the Connextant chipset PCI internal type modems) |
