hey guys, well first time on the forums i got a issue.
i had Vonage for about 6months now, and its been working fine until 4 days ago. recently, adelphia switched to time warner here in socal, and just about 4days ago time warner switched there internet stuff. and they just down the internet and stuff. and basically after this my internet has been going REALLY SLOW!! it takes like 5mins to load to hotmail, yahoo, msn any website. i have the router WRTP54G.

this is what i have done to TRY to solve the problem:
1) disconnect modem and router and wait 2mins and then try to reconnect and everything still lag.
2) checked my connections and wires still slowness

then just today i tried connecting to the internet without the router and my internet goes super fast just like before. so i guess theres something wrong with the router and what they try to do 4days ago with my internet

does anyone have any solutions or possible fixes for this.

i live in socal, i have time warner cable and they just switched to roadrunner internet or something i believe. i have the router WRTP54G.

thanks

I'm reluctant to jump in on this one because I really don't understand why this is happening to you. But it doesn't seem like you're getting much action from anyone else. Please run the forum VoIP/speed test (menu, top left, Vonage Information/VoIP speed test). Run it with the WRTP54G in place and again with the computer going directly to the modem. Post both sets of detailed results.

Is your internet performance always slow, or is it just slow until you connect with a site after a long delay, and fast after that? How is the phone service?

Try resetting the entire network by shutting DOWN all devices connected to it, then unplugging the router and modem for 2 minutes. Reconnect the modem, wait 2 minutes for it to get connected to your provider, then power on the router, wait another two minutes then power on all devices connected to the router. Sometimes, a device on the network will not release it's IP and cause cause collisions.

OK, but is it just slow until it finally connects to a site and then speeds up? If so, you may have a DNS issue.

OK, you probably have a DNS issue. That's the system that looks up the actual numerical internet addresses that go with the easy to remember names that we use. Check out this article by forum member Nate Hoy:
