I have WiFi internet, based on the Motorola Canopy system. The antenna and modem are sealed on my roof and mounted to my antenna mast, and the internet service has been very good thus far, but I am getting a lot of popping/clicking on my Vonage calls.
Here's my setup:
Motorola Canopy ->WRT54G(DD-WRT Mini)->Vtech IP8100-2
I've turned the bandwidth saver all the way down, it seems to have helped a little, but not much. I have 3Mb/512Kb service on the WiFi.
Here's my Testyourvoip results:
MOS Analysis From You TO Boston MOS analysis chart Media Quality MOS 3.4 / 5.0 (Best with G.711 is 4.4) Degradation Sources Codec 0.58 36.5% Latency 0.11 7.0% Packet Discards 0.56 35.7% Packet Loss 0.33 20.6% Codec G.711 (PCM at 64kbps, 20ms RTP payload, 80kbps IP BW) Round-Trip Latency 310 ms Packet Discards 2.5% Packet Loss 1.5% Loss Periods Min: 20 ms Avg: 40 ms Max: 180 ms Burst Loss Jitter Min: 0 ms Avg: 16 ms Max: 130 ms Signaling Quality Post-Dial Delay 157 ms Call Setup Time 172 ms Media Delay 360 ms

Anyone have any ideas on where my problem lies? I'm not running QOS or anything crazy on the DD-WRT flashed router, I've turned off the SPI firewall, I've forwarded ports... nothing seems to help! Thanks! |

Your packet losses and discards are too high in both directions. Please plug your computer directly into the modem and repeat the test. |

I plugged my system directly into the modem, and actually got worse results! I forgot to copy/paste, but I scored a 2.8MOS and my packet loss/degradation were basically the same (2-4%)
Well, do I point the finger at my ISP now? I have realized that my connection seems slower lately, and even though I speed test at over 1Mb/300Kb, when I play online games my ping jumps from 80-200 pretty regularly (every 15-20 seconds usually)
Gah! Any ideas? Thanks for the help! |

Yes, you point the finger at your ISP. I wouldn't focus on the Vonage issue, but rather on the internet specific issues that you've mentioned. That will avoid finger pointing by the ISP. |

So, I've got a tech from my ISP coming out tomorrow to check out my wireless antenna, and make sure I am receiving the signal that I should be. Something tells me I am not!
Hopefully this will take care of the problem... I'll try to post tomorrow night to let you know, thank you for your input so far! |
