Post subject: RTP300 port forward & DNS setting problem
I used to have a linksys RT31P2 linksys router with 3 IP cameras hooked-up. Port Forwarding on static IP’s was used for those cameras. And It work perfectly until the router went south. It was replaced by an RTP300 and I cant make the port forwarding work from outside the network. I can access the router from an outside network but not the IP Cameras. The set-up is similar to the old router . I lost count on the number of ports I tried on the router and cameras but to no avail.I do know that some IP cameras are picky on the port number but not the ones I have. Another thing is I use the opendns.com settings , I entered the dns settings and It shows the indicated settings on the router login start-up page but not on the status tab which still has the old settings. A test on a rigged test-website verifies that the subnet settings are not referencing opendns servers. Restarting and resetting to the defaults before configuring does not help either! RTP300 firmware version is 1.01.07 and upgrading the firmware is not possible because that feature is locked out. I did not have any of these issues on the old RT31P2
CableModem : Motorola SB5101 (DOCSIS 2.0 compatible)
Router : Linksys RTP300
Cameras : Airlink AIC250 X3

I'm having the same problem with this firmware but found a work around that seems to work until the router is rebooted. Just enable the DMZ option and hit save then disable it and hit save. DMZ also works but that is a little risky unless you are running a good software firewall.
thanks for this post, my 3 IP security cams are now accessible. This was a 3 day wrestling match with the configurations aftermupgrading my router to an RTP300
