Post subject: Pulse Dialing with the ATA??
I've got an alarm system that I'm attempting to hook up to the ATA unit.
I've noticed that the alarm system uses pulse dialing. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the ATA supports pulse dialing?

I do not believe the ATA will support pulse dialing. It requires DTMF dialing to complete calls.

Gerhard,
That is either a very old alarm system or a very strange one. Most alarm systems are Tone but fall back to Pulse if that fails. My alarm is hooked up to
Vonage
and works fine.
It tries DTMF first, then drops to Pulse dialing if it can't connect via Tone.
I would suggest that you check that your alarm is breaking dialtone on your
Vonage
(it has to be the first connection before any other devices) - The solution may be as simple as that
Give it a try and see

Or it has a tone - pulse switch and just needs to be set on tone...
