I Switched to Verizon FIOS.I had no problems when i was with comcast
N/W Configuration: VerizonFIOS-->Sonic F/W 170-->MotorolaVT1005..
Dropping audio.. audio drops in either direction for short period of time, then returns to normal.Has the same issue when I plug in my vphone..upload:5mbps down:15mbps.My hardwire firewall has nothing to do with this. I am using the same n/w as it was before when i used comcast.Morover i have opened up all the ports on my sonic for the Motorola. I am thinking whether this has to do anything with Verizon ?? Please advise me |

From your description it certainly sounds like an issue with Verizon. However, please post all the details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum and let's see what we can see. |

I have seen several references to a "sticky message" what is that? |

Look at the main list of messages for the forum. Right at the top, marked with a red triangle, is a "sticky". It's a message that the moderator believes is important enough to have there all the time. Several of the forums have them. |

I had a similar problem with my setup the culprit was the sonicwall and Verizon. (I have the same Soncwall 170.) Verizon sets their DHCP server to reset ever 8-10 minutes. The Sonicwall would dropout my call whenever it was trying to get a new address (even it was the same ip address which it always was.) Since then I switched to a Linksys RVS4000 with Firmwas 1.0.15 and haven't had any problems and it does nicely with VPN to for Sonicall in the office. |

I've been using Vonage with FIOS for over a year now and have never had any issues. Are you using the Actiontec router from Verizon? If so, have you updated to the latest firmware (.120)?

The OP didn't say where he is located, but FYI I am in MD are am still on PPPoE and not DHCP. Hopefully, he is on DHCP and this will fix his issue.
