I noticed that Vonage FINALLY put something in the Service Announcements section of thier site.
This is after I've spent two days trying to figure out why my CID is not working (my phone apparently won't display anything if there is no date & time info, it's a VTech 40-2421 4 line system). My other phones do display the CID, even though there is no date & time.

My Caller ID hasn't been working for a few days either. I'm getting nothing at all. Maybe my phone just doesn't know what to do with the wrong information?

Vonage now has a statement on the service recording stating that it should be repaired within 48 hours.

When you have proper date/time stamping, do you get a lot of "out of area" or "unknown caller" calls? We seem to have a real problem with that lately and nothing we've tried fixes is. Wondering if it's a problem with something here locally and not Vonage.

I sometimes don't get any data sent to my phones. Whenever that happens I just reboot the MTA and everything goes back to normal...

As far as this situation, for the business person that needs the caller ID info when returning calls; have you thought about using your online dashboard to check when your callers called? I know it's not a great solution, but I thought I would suggest it anyways in case you had not thought of it.

rebooting only seems to help for a few numbers and then back to out of area or unknown. i've migrated to the linksys router because nobody's been known to have caller id problems with it yet -- but we could be the first.

when we go to the dashboard, we have time, date, number, but "out of area" or "unknown."

and I have to say when we first got names, it was rock solid. I'm not sure why it went away, but it started being a problem in June and just can't seem to be resolved so far. We've only had the linksys a few days, though. Maybe it will get better!

I had the same problem several weeks ago - CallerID would stop working - rebooting ATA would work for a few more calls.

I emailed support, and after a few back-and-forths, they stated that they "reset my CallerId function" and all I had to do was reboot ATA again. I bet you wouldn't be surprised that after a few more calls, it stopped again.

I emailed back again...twice on this problem...and I am no longer getting any replies.

They don't seem to know how to fix the problem, or they just don't care to give their customers the features they were promised. Sad

Gosh, they've been very responsive to me. I think they're as frustrated as I am with the situation in my case. I'm hopeful whatever it is will soon become apparent so it can be fixed. Of course when I signed on we didn't even have names with caller id, so I was really excited to get it when it came online. What is odd is that it worked for so long flawlessly and now it doesn't. Hopefully it's just a growing pain or something.

I may be really lucky with my service experience. I've always gotten people who try really hard to help with my problems, be it faxing (now completely reliable I'm happy to say) and the beeping (still random but tolerable) and the vanishing id.

I agree for the most part I have had good customer service from Vonage. I have had a couple of problems with them not responding to emails. I am still waiting on a response from an email that I sent two weeks ago. I called them last night and ended up speaking to a supervisor regarding a number transfer that has been going on for five months as of next Saturday.

Somethings they respond to quickly, others they don't.

They finally fixed the caller-ID issue (and responded to my squawk via email).
Now if they could fix the problem with my voicemail cutting people off within about 10 seconds, I would be happy.
