Wondering if it is possible to configure the Motorola VT2442 to use both phone jacks on the unit for a single line account.

Don't know about that. I just use a dual outlet plugin into my one line and then I can use two phones.

It is my understanding that this is not possible. The second jack is for a second line. If you want to use more than one phone I would recommend using a splitter, or a multi-handset cordless phone. Of course using your existing phone jacks is also possible.
