Wireless File transfer using Vonage VWR crashes MacBook Pro

Equipment: Apple MDD G4, Apple MacBook Pro and Vonage VWR

I initially posted this message in the UK forum (I live in the UK) but the VWR is too new for anyone to have had any experience with it.

Has anyone had experience with this router?

Connecting wirelessly with this router is not a problem. Surfing the internet too is a breeze. But when it comes to peer to peer networking the MacBook Pro crashes.

Connecting to other Macs is OK, but when attempting to open folders on the server there is a problem. I get the spinning ball of death and the MBP freezes. I get this message in Console:

"mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en1 (192.168.15.100); delaying packets by 5 seconds"

BTW no problems of this kind when using an ethernet connection or using my old Airport Dual Ethernet Base Station.

Any ideas? Are there any settings on the Vonage VWR I can use to emulate the Airport Base Station?

The whole reason for going the Vonage route was to upgrade from the Airport BS and use a telephone system at the same time.

wireless always give a lot of errors and needs many configuration..

you using the bonjour address to connect? you try the straight ip instead?

Thanks for your responses.

I normally use fixed IP addresses for my core Macs, leaving DHCP for guest computers.

I'm sure the problem lies with the firmware of the Vonage/D-link VWR. When I connect my old Airport Base Station to the router and switch off the wireless in the D-Link, there are no problems in file sharing.

Maybe some ports need to be opened?

Never trust a DHCP server. Always use Fixed IP addresses.
Also use Port Forwarding.

I run Mac and Linux-based machines and never have a problem. Vonage phone adapter is connected to the router, too. Also, I have the router email me the Logs. I use the Router logs to assist in building newer software.

All the Macs are on fixed IP. I've recently bought a Wintel laptop and that too had problems file sharing with a desktop PC. So this isn't a Mac problem! However fFile sharing between the PCs did work via Airport!
