We have had ongoing dropped calls with Vonage. We recently connected the computer directly to the cable in the basement and received better internet speeds and are hoping the dropped calls end. Our speed test readings this evening were below. Is there anything more we can do to prevent the calls dropping?

dropped calls... hmm... is it dropping like hanging up, or is it dropping for about 30 sec, then the audio comes back. if it's the former of the two, i'd say something along your route is messed up, possibly the modem if you go right from the modem to the Vonage. otherwise if it's the later, i would say that there's a packet loss issue or latency issue. is it dead air audio both ways or just one-way audio? can you hear the other person going hello, hello?

if it's the former as well i'd take a look at your modem. i had an issue with my modem since i've been a comcast customer since `98 back when they were @home, so my modem was very old and didn't have the firmware necessary for the Vonage service... pretty sure's it's docsis. this new one is 1.1, so i assume you need 1.1 or higher.

Thanks for the advice -- actually I completely lose the call. I cannot hear the party on the other end and they can't hear me. When I try to redial right away the call doesn't even go through. Sometimes there may be a dial tone, but when it comes to have the call process with a ring, nothing happens -- which is when I switch to my cellphone.

My modem is new -- I actually replaced it hoping for some kind of relief, but none. Any ideas?

i guess it would be wise that i direct you to Vonage tech support. hubs, switches, ventilation, interferences, docsis, cont. PING may be considered. you have their number already?
