I have seen some of the issues that people have had with DSL and Telmex in Mexico, but has there been any issues with using Vonage over cable internet in Mexico? |

agreed. If the isp dont block Voip, it will work perfectly. unlike Telmex before, they do but as far as I know they are working on it. |

I have been in Mexico for over 2 months and have not had any problems using Vonage with my cable ISP. My ISP is Megacable. I am actually quite suprised how well it works!! Voip test statistics -------------------- Jitter: you --> server: 6.6 ms Jitter: server --> you: 8.0 ms Packet loss: you --> server: 0.0 % Packet loss: server --> you: 0.0 % Packet discards: 0.0 % Packets out of order: 0.0 % Number of supported Voip lines: 4 Estimated MOS score: 3.9 |

thanks for the info, but have you tried to ask your ISP if they are not blocking Voip services? |

Ultravision told me that they don't block, so I should be OK. |

Have I tried to ask my ISP? No, I assume they don't block Voip since mine works like a dream. But who knows, maybe i am doing something illegal. |

I have Megared and a Vonage box w/ a linksys router running dd-wrt with no problems. Of course, when Megared becomes Mierdared nothing works.
It's in Guadalajara BTW, I wish Vonage offered virtual numbers with the area code of 33 in Mexico. |

I used Vonage and Telecable (in Guadalajara) and worked beautifully for over a year, just 3 weeks ago I started having problems. At first Telecable said they were not blocking Voip but after calling them at least 10 times a new employee admited that telecable is now blocking some UDP ports claiming that they were getting lots of viruses through those ports. In Zapopan seems that there are only 2 high speed internet options, Prodigy (Telmex) and Telecable. Any idea on the forum how can I overcome this problem? My phone has not worked for 3 weeks now. |
