I'd appreciate some help with this. A friend just got Vonage and it's working fine. I wasn't around for the installation though, and she used the CD which came with the adapter to guide her through the set up.
The software did something to her desktop background image. It had been set to "none" for a nice clean blank desktop. Now there's a big Vonage banner on the desktop. I had thought that possibly the software installed a new background image, but checking display properties shows that it's still set to "none". Changing it back and forth to other images doesn't resolve it. Pretty annoying to have them come in and change the image!
Does anyone know how to remove this? She doesn't want a Vonage advertisement staring her in the face all day.
Thanks,
Mark |

yikes.. that's weird. No idea why you would need a Vonage cd to setup an adapter. There's no software needed to get it working.
Check the control panel's add/remove programs and see if you can delete/uninstall the software. Or use Windows XP restore features to go back to the last state before the software was installed. |

Thanks - I already checked add/remove and nothing showed up. Guess I'll have to grill her about whether or not system restore would damage something else. Must have dropped something in registry so that should fix it.
She thought she'd save me the trouble of helping her install the adapter so she just wanted to see the video on the cd. So now we have this issue instead I wrote to Vonage about it a week ago and received no reply. She wrote in, and they said it shouldn't be happening and actually asked for a screenshot of her desktop so they could see what she's talking about. No word back since.
If anyone has any suggestions or experience with this, I'd appreciate hearing about it. |

Have you checked dispay properties/desktop/customize desktop to see if she's displaying a web page? |

Yes, that's not the case. Thanks for the suggestion. |
