I apologize in advance, as I know the whole "dual-router" config has been discussed ad nauseum, but I can't for the life of me get mine to function correctly. I'd appreciate any help you guys can provide!

First the details:
    1. Columbus, OH
    2. WOW! highspeed cable
    3. 6500kbps/1200kbps
    4. Don't know modem type, not home at the moment
    5. Vonage adapter: Linksys RTP300
    6. Modem --> Router --> Vonage
    7. No dial tone
    8. Not home to run test at the moment

My Vonage has worked flawlessly for several months, with the exception of the expected headaches that come along with most Linksys routers. So I recently got a new router (Netgear FVS114) and threw it in the mix. I disabled NAT and DHCP on the RTP300 and placed it behind the Netgear (per Option1 on this page). However, I'm getting no dial tone at all. The Phone 1 light that should be lit up on the RTP300 is not. When I pick up my receiver, I get the first few words of an error message and then it cuts out. All I hear is "This phone line..." and then nothing.

So, I'm at a loss and have no idea where to go from here. Would really appreciate any help! I'd love to just switch over to the D-Link VTA but don't feel like spending $50 on the problem.

Ordinarily, I'd say those are pretty good test results, but the downlink speed is a far cry from what you listed in your information. Any idea what's up with that?

What happens if you plug a computer into the RTP300 LAN side? (You'll probably have to assign a static IP to the computer or re-enable DHCP in the RTP300 to try it.) Can you access the internet? What does the RTP admin page say about the status of its connections?

Yeah I was a bit confused about that as well. Here are my results from DSLreports.com:

I plugged a laptop into the LAN side of the RTP and got nothing. In fact, the only way I can access the RTP's admin page is by moving the cable from it's WAN port over to one of it's LAN ports. After that, I can access the admin page using it's IP address (a static IP that I set).

After re-enabling DHCP, I moved the cable from the router back to the WAN port of the RTP. Plugged a laptop back into the RTP's LAN side and I still have no internet access. RTP's status page lists both Phone lines as Idle. Says "Provisioned: Could not reach config server".

Are there ports that I need to forward on my main router to the RTP? I've never had to do any port-forwarding to make it work before, but then again I've never had it behind a router.

This whole process would be easier if they had an option on the RTP's admin page for "Act as Voip adapter only" Smile

Just got off the phone with Vonage tech-support, and he gave me a list of UDP ports that would need forwarded to the Vonage adapter:
    - 21
    - 69
    - 80
    - 2400
    - 5060
    - 5061
    - 10000-20000

So I'll try forwarding these ports and see if I get my dialtone back.

I reset the RTP to factory defaults, and the phone came back alive finally. I disabled NAT and DHCP on it as well. I can still only log into the box if I'm plugged directly into it, but oh well. At least I've got phone again!

To log on to it from anywhere except its LAN, you need to set up remote administration. Do a search on the forum and you should find instructions.
