Why is it if i want to cancel one of my numbers I need to pay 39.99. Especially if i have been a long time member, and bought my own device. If you have two lines you need to pay the fee twice. I find this very annoying, and any savings you might make from vonage can be eaten up by there fees. |

as far as my memory serves me right if you're over one year and you decide to disconnect there'll be no cancellation fee. |

I know 'downgrades' of service incure a $10 change fee, but the TOS makes it sound like there is no charge to cancel after your first year IF you give the proper notice.
| Quote: |
| 2.1 (a) Monthly Term. Service is offered on a monthly basis for a term that begins on the date that Vonage activates your Service and ends on the day before the same date in the following month. Subsequent terms of this Agreement automatically renew on a monthly basis unless you give us written notice of non-renewal at least ten (10) days before the end of the monthly term in which the notice is given. You are purchasing the Service for full monthly terms, meaning that if you attempt to disconnect Service prior to the end of a monthly term, you will be responsible for the full month's charges to the end of the then-current term, including, without limitation, unbilled charges, plus a disconnection fee, if applicable, all of which will immediately become due and payable. You will also be responsible for the next full month's charges in the event that you do not provide the requisite ten-day notice of disconnection prior to the expiration of the then-current term. Expiration of the term or disconnection of Service will not excuse you from paying all accrued and unpaid charges due under this Agreement. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if you disconnect Vonage service after the Money Back Guarantee period (see section 3.7), but within the first twelve months, Vonage charges a disconnection fee of $39.99 per line. |

that is lawyer talk for you will be charged if you cancel any number within the first 12 months of service, this also means that you will have to pay your 13th billig cycle bill on that line in order for it not to be within the 12 months
if you added the number on their recent promo for an additional line, you could plead your case that you did not know that there was a term fee for the additional line since it was added with a promo
but if it was not added with a promo, you could lower the rate plan on that line if you are close to the 12 months time limit and cut your losses, but of course if you are a ways away from that then it will be cheaper to cancel the line
just think if you have two cell phones and decide to cancel on it will cost you $200, now 39.99 does not look so bad |

There's a disconnection fee my friend of $39.99 if you cancel within one year from the date of activation but no cancellation or termination or disconnection fees whatsoever AFTER one year. In reference to the second line of the same phone adaptor, I'm definitely sure also that there's no disconnection or cancellation fee for that even within one year of activation. |

the only voip service I found without a cancellation fee was with my local cable internet provider - and they're $15/month more for less features. Took me awhile to decide on vonage, reat the tos for about a dozen or so providers - $39 is pretty standard. The contract/early termination deal is annoying - but it seems like that's the way the industry is heading. |

So to sum things up.....
If I want to cancel....
a) within 30 days: I get the money back guarantee, no disconnection charge
b) 2nd month to the 12th month: $39 disconnection fee
c) after a year's worth of service: no disconnection fee
Did I get things correctly?
Please clarify this for me, thanks ^_^ |

better yet call the customer care hotline to clear this thing.
it's better to ask them directly. |
