I've done some extensive forum searching but still not joy. hoping for some help.
I have a 2 line vonage service. 1 Dlink VTA adapater and a 2-line Uniden phone (tru6466). I'm running two regular phone cables from dlink line 1 to uniden line 1/2 and dlink line 2 to uniden line 2. The issue i have is that if I initiate a call from either line 1 or line 2 and hang up then the line still remains open and i can't make another call on any other line. I also get a busy signal if I open the either line again. basically a total mess. The phone display reads that lines are inuse when they aren't.
I've switched the cables between both lines on the phone and get the same result.
I have this same setup but with a POTS line connected and it works fine. It appears to be a 2 vonage line issue rather than a 1 pots and 1 vonage issue. I want to disconnect the comast line.
I am considering trying to get another dlink adapter but I'm not sure that'll solve the problem either. I'm wondering if this two line uniden phone has problems with dual lines from vonage. I called uniden and they said that because the phone appears to be working with 1 single line and with 1 vonage and 1 pots line then as far as they are concerned it must be a vonage adapter issue.
I called vonage tech support the rep couldn't even understand my setup after explaining it 3 times let alone help me diagnose the issue so I gave up that route.
Also, if I connect 1 vonage line to 1 phone and 1 vonage line to another phone then both lines work.
It is therefore an issue of using 2 vonage lines on one phone.
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks,

so in continuing to troubleshoot I connected a 3-way splitter into the vonage dlink vta adapter (line 2) then connected a regular phone line into line 2 of the splitter and line 2 of the uniden phone. This seems to have cleaned the signals so that each undien line dials without interfering with the other uniden line.
It must be something to do with the splitting of the cables but if anyone has a technical answer it would be useful to post.

We've seen some indications before of oddities with respect to the wiring of the VTA phone ports. The solution we came up with in one case was to use cheap telephone cords with just two conductors (line 1) instead of fully wired, four conductor cords. I believe you've accomplished the same thing with the splitter. |

hey ,
i do agree with steve.........vonage willnot work with 2 line phones......vonage works only with a regular 1 line phone .......moreover avoid usage of splitter in the phone line.........bcoz unlike other traditional phone companies ,VONAGE provides phone service over the existing internet service., so bandwidth allocated for the voice part will get splitted if u use a splitter.so avoid it...........if u wanna connect extension phones try to using a wireless jack.it will help. |

Actually, I can't agree with all of this. In general, a Vonage adapter with two Vonage lines enabled will work with a two line phone. As far as I've seen in reading this forum for awhile, the problem is limited to the D-link VTR. Even with the VTR, there are ways around the problem. |

I have two lines at my house and have my Linksys Router hardwired in to my house.......No problem over here. I am using the QoS option within the router setup so the bandwidth is not robbed from my phone system to feed the internet usage demand. Hope this helps! |
