Post subject: Embark and certain local exchanges unable to call us
We recently signed up with
Vonage
. Love the price. Transfer of our number from Embark (formerly Sprint) went rather fast - less than 10 days. We can dial out and SOME local exchanges and folks out of our area (long distance) - are able to call us. BUT, when folks who have certain exchanges in our local area - 717-632-XXXX (we have this exchange), 717-637-XXXX, for example - try to call us - they get the Embark recorded message that "the party is not answering". I have contacted
Vonage
and they have escalated to second level support. Has anyone else experienced this?

Post subject: I am Having The Same Problem: Can't Get Incoming Local Calls
We are having the same problem. Our Embarq number ported over to
Vonage
. And our neighbors in the 763 area code cannot call us. What's the problem?????

It's quite possible that the carrier your friends have does not have the updated call routing in their switch. A lot of times these things work themselves out in the 1st 24 hours, if not be sure to ask the people who can't call you to report the problem to THEIR carrier.
