Several months ago I ported my phone number from Vonage to Viatalk. Ever since I switched services, other Vonage customers have not been able to call me; they call my number and get someone else instead. I called Vonage to request that they release my number from their data base and they told me that they could not do it because they had assigned my very same phone number to another Vonage customer. So now you have two households in the Houston area with the very same number, although all calls from non-vonage numbers have no problems getting through to me. I have been trying for months to get Vonage to rectify the problem. I have even launched complaints with the BBB and the FCC, but to no avail. Vonage just doesn't care. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve my problem and get Vonage to do the right thing? |

oh I see well call the tech support of Vonage so that they can scrub off your number on their database so that you can now receive calls from Vonage users |

I had the same problem. It got fixed up somewhat fast though, once I managed to explain to level1 tech what was going on they transferred me to level2. i waited on hold for about an hour and the guy figured out what happened pretty quickly, he had to call the new number owner and leave a voice mail but when that guy called back it was fixed up in about 24hrs. Took another ticket to get it out of the database but at least it wasn't going to someone else.
I'd suggest find someone that has Vonage and use their Vonage line to call your own number, then you can talk to the people that 'have it'. Explain politely what's going on, chances are they will feel as annoyed as you do. Then maybe you can 3way call to tech support and get it fixed up? Even if Vonage doesn't care, the other guy probably will be wondering why nobody can call him.
Once you get him off the line then its easy, call level1 tech and ask them to put in a ticket called 'remove DID from database' then it will get fixed up |
