I just received my UTStarcom F1000 WiFi phone and to the best of my knowledge configured everything correctly, meaning I followed all the directions given to me in the pamphlet. I have a closed wireless network, though the phone's MAC address was entered into our system and the WEP key was entered into the phone. The problem I encountered was that the phone would show "connecting to APaddress" followed by "registering with APaddress" but then shortly come up with "no address available, try again." This seems odd when a full signal for our network is visible on the phone and yet for some reason is unable to connect! I haven't even been able to get the software for the phone because it can't get passed "registering." Hopefully someone has encountered something similar and can enlighten me as to what I need to be doing, possibly other setting on the internet end that Vonage doesn't address in the handbook!!Thanks!

these are some probable causes for that:

Port Forwarding may need to be enabled
Device may need to be factory reset
Hotspot may require a Login Script
No internet connection through the router
Invalid MAC

One possible cause is the the network is blocking the phone's TFTP configuration request. Since it was a new phone, the simple way to check that is to go to MISC -> Factory Reset. If the phone resets with a NULL password (just press OK when it asks), then Vonage never sent a config file (they did not send or you did not get). If the phone gives a "Code Error" for NULL, but takes utvonpw as the password to reset, then it linked to Vonage at some point.

If the phone did not link, then verify that your ISP allows TFTP to pass over their network - or set the phone to look for an open network and walk around outside where there are a lot of open networks - one would likely allow TFTP.
