I have been happily crusin along with Vonage for almost a year. New Home office furniture arrives. I have to disconnect all my home computer stuff to relocate the modems/vonage router. Plug everything back up (I have simple one pc setup) Vonage router will not shake hands with my ip address. I have the VT 1000v Voice Terminal, cable modem and PC. That's it. No new splitters/cables added since initial installation that went flawlessly. Now I have the two blinking green lights of death. So far, CS has been less than impressive.

They don't seem to grasp the fact that I can not communicate with my ISP (Charter Cable) If I have the VT1000v in line. I can not access the router to change the ip address. This is now going on three weeks and I am less then impressed with what they are telling me to do - BECAUSE NONE OF IT WORKS IF I CAN'T ACCESS THE INTERNIET WITH THEIR ROUTER IN THE LOOP!!!!

As webmaster for a gearhead site, www.v8sho.com, I have come to appreciate the knowledge that forums such as this possess.
I'm at my wits end and ready to change vendors.

Any sage advice at this point would be greatly appreciated. Bear in mind I CAN NOT ACCESS ANY URL'S WITH THEIR ROUTER IN MY LOOP!! And yes I have all new eathernet cables.

I'm open for anything at this point before I nuke Vonage

Hi,

You could try doing a factory reset of the motorola, Before that, the first thing to verify is connection. Ethernet connection from modem should go to the WAN on MTA, and PC slot should be connected to the comp. Can you verify that? Make sure its connected this way and bring up power to the modem first and wait till the power and cable/online light gets solid, then turn on MTA to see if it becomes solid.

Did you try doing a soft reset? One can login to MTA using the web interface. 'http://192.168.102.1/admin.html ' make the connections as before and use the comp to go this site, which is MTAs web interface, there will be an option called restore factory settings, just click and wait to see if the green light gets solid. if it doesnt for some 5 mins , do a power cycle again and check.

Once again my fine REBUILT modem has gone to jezus. This is the fourth in my time with Vonage. I'm no longer a happy camper and am exploring other vendors. Want me to stay SEND A DAMN MODEM THAT WILL WORK FOR MORE THAN FOUR MONTHS!!!
Other than that, I have no opinions. You can't log into the url unless the modem is functional so that was lame advice. Ship new modems, there's the answer.

I had some connectivity problems under XP SP2. for some reason I lose connectivity sometimes. Really had me pulling my hair out for awhile. Try pulling up your connection properties and hitting the 'repair' button. If it fails on clearing the DNS cache, goto start > run > type 'services.msc' (no quotes) and start the DNS service. Then repeat the above.

Also, just as a side note, look in your connection properties, and make sure your adapter is listed as being bound to that connection. also you can try reinstalling you nic card and resetting up your network connection. Also rerun the network setup wizard from network connections. Hope this helps
