I've checked the Vonage help for troubleshooting call quality, but it doesn't cover delays of about a second or more between one party finishing speaking and the other party hearing the end of speech and starting talking. This is particularly bad when the call is between two Vonage numbers.
Does anyone know what causes this and if anything can be done about it? Vonage have been successful in deterring us from calling them because all you get is standard replies from US operators. |

I'm afraid the speed test crashes both Firefox and IE. From other posts that seems to be a Java issue, which I'll need to troubleshoot. Any suggestions would be welcome. |

One cause of delay is that QOS isn't working correctly. Do you have the Vonage router or the phone adapter? |

The problem with the phone adapter is that it doesn't do QOS (Quality of Service). This is a facility which prioritises your Internet traffic to make sure the Vonage data gets through without delay. You need to either swap it for the Vonage router or implement QOS using your own router. |

The speed test gives the following results:
Down load speed: 952
Upload speed : 106
Quality of service: 92%
Jitter: 8.2 ms
Packet loss: 0.0%
MOS Score: 3.1
Does that indicate any problems? |

Personally, I never rated the speed test as it didn't show up the problems I was having. Also, it only gives you information for a single moment in time. Trust me though, if you have a PC connected to your network and no QOS, you'll get delays. Windows is forever sending out network traffic and without QOS the queing in your network adds delays. |

Hey good point, I also get delays in conversations and also some noise chatter on the receivers end...
I was going to go for a MIMO/240mbps router + adapter to try give our network a boost to see if that would help but now I have to decide between that or trying a 108mbps QoS router... either that or wait for netgear to make a QoS enabled wireless MIMO router ?
