Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.
I have vonage and cable broadband internet service.
How can I set things up so that my computer can still use its 56 k modem to dial up places like AOL? |

You should set it up the same way that you would if you had an ordinary land line instead of Vonage. Unfortunately, many modems seem to have problems using a Vonage connection, and I haven't seen anyone recommending modems that work well or don't. If yours has trouble, I'd try reducing speed until it does well. Set up Vonage for maximum bandwidth (the default). |

Although it's an actual 'good question', for your purposes, the answer would be 'You don't want to'.
Basically, to access AOL type services, your best option is not to dial-out, but use the broadband connection you already have. For example, if you are still paying the full AOL monthly fee, ask them to switch you to a broadband-only plan, which is much cheaper as you would not be able to use their modem lines, but provided you are not in any contract. If not, contact them to ask them how to use the broadband connection to access their services.
Of course, needless to say, you would not be able to use any type of dial-up services if your broadband connection is down, as you whole Vonage setup would be down.
Certain employers require you to 'dial-in' directly into their networks, so the question is a valid one, which I would leave for someone else to answer (in this case).
