Soft Phones in Hotels

I am going on vacation and the hotel I am staying at has wireless internet in the library. I was thinking about bringing a laptop and signing up for a soft phone (then disconnecting it when I get back).

My question is this: will a soft phone work ok within a hotel wireless network? I am assuming it would, but as I've never done it I thought I would check here before signing up. Any comments/feedback would be most appreciated.

It is hard to say if it will work for sure until you actually try it. Odds are that it will work, but isn't it going to be rather expensive for just a vacation? I mean the connection fee plus a disconnect fee just a short time later doesn't make much economic sense. Why not something like Skype?

It should work fine so long as the high-speed connection is sufficient. I've had mixed experiences using my V-Phone in hotels.
