I am wondering if my phone number will appear in the printed phone book since I only have a vonage number. My phone number is from 506, but I live in a 613 area code. I had a look online, but my old phone number is still there, takes awhile for the online site to get updated.

Another question, has anyone been receiving phone calls from telemarketers? I have had this Vonage number for 1 month now and none of those phone calls. I used to have the Toronto Star call me at least once a month to see if I wanted their newspaper.

Vonage will not list your number, if it was transfered from Bell or Telus than it will be printed this year, but maybe not next year as the number will be gone from their database..

I tried to contact Bell Canada via email about this once, but got a reply saying i should sign up for Bell Digital Voice as they have the number listed.. I wrote back saying I didn't ask about their VoIP service, I asked about having my 'foreign' number listed, they wrote back again saying to contact the Bell Dig Voice department for service.. IDIOTS!

there is a service www.listyourself.net .. [edit: correcting URL] where you can list your number, (you can list Canadian numbers) I listed my Columbia SC number for the city of Columbia, and have not had any telemarketers call yet.. supposedly if you list yourself with that service, only callers to 1-800-FREE-411 and maybe to some other 411 directory services (all call-in, no printed listings) can get your number..

I tried to call 800-FREE-411 and asked for Columbia SC, and my name, the sevice oculdnt' undestand me for some reason, and wanted to transfer me to an operator.. I hung up, so i dont' know if it actually works or not.. alot of help i am eh?

My number couldn't be transferred because I Vonage doesn't have local numbers in my area.

I looked at the Bell site for VOIP but the price was nuts, no reason to get rid of home phone and stick with Bell at even higher price.

I looked at the site you listed, but it is getlisted.net not com

I entered my number but I tried to call number they have listed once I completed the form, but it won't dial. There is an option for them to call me, but wife is sleeping (shift worker).

I got to thinking if someone did call 411, they have to say the city they are looking for. I don't live in the city that matches my phone number.

Thanks for your help.

oops.. you were right that I was wrong, but you were wrong too.. http://www.listyourself.net is the correct page here.. lol..

the thing with that site, is you can list yourself in one city, even if your number is from a different city.. so you coul dlist your number for the city you live in, and then still enter your other phone number.. the caller will hear the 10 digit number even if it is from another area..

I got my number listed, well said it will take 72 hours.

I tried to call the free 411, the computer doesn't accept Canada so I got transfered to an operator, but still no luck, seems there is no one listed in my city with my last name closest place is an hours drive away. I will have to view 411.ca in a few weeks and see if it is updated.

Not sure if someone calls 411 here in Canada if my number will come up in the future.

First time I heard about this free 411 stuff, I don't think there is a company here in Canada yet.
