This is a typical spam-support requirement . . . jumping through their hoops to end spam you didn't sign up for and do not want. What sleazeball tactics . . .

Someone at Vonage needs to realize that this WILL backfire and likely p*** off more subscribers than the business it will generate.

Or maybe not . . . they could be completely clueless as to how much the online community absolutely HATES spam.

Thats funny. When I called to "OPT-OUT" they said it was all or nothing. They said they would cancel postal mail, email, and phone contact. That was the only option.

At least the guy seemed to know about the issue. This must mean that people are actively expressing their dissatisfaction with this policy.

Here was the first reply to email I sent:

Thank you for contacting Customer Care.

We understand from your email that you do not wish to be contacted by us for direct marketing purposes you can exercise your option to opt-out from receiving direct marketing emails, mailings, and telemarketing calls. In order to exercise your opt-out option, please reply to this email and include the following information:

1. Provide the specific methods of contact that you want to opt-out
from receiving (e.g. direct marketing emails, mailings, telemarketing
calls). If you want to opt-out from all, simply state all methods of
contact in your reply.

Here was what it replied to:

I prefer that you not use my information for direct marketing communications about benefits, offers, products, features and services via email and telephone. In other words I want to OPT
OUT of these services provided by you and any third parties that you may use or sell to. This use of my information is not
appreciated, and use of it will have me look to other providers for service.

I stated the methods I wanted out of, as per the instructions earlier in this thread, but now I just typed all and they responded that hey have received my request and will process it, just like NewView above.
