I just set-up my Vonage Motorola VT4224 as per the instructions provided and on-line, however, I can no longer connect to the internet and the powerl ight is blinking red. The internet connection is good as I can use my modem directly and use the web just fine. When I connect the Vonage Phone Adapter, nothing....Any ideas??

I've restarted, rebooted, reset and unplugged about 10 times..no dice....

anything else it could be? what IP/MAC address should I be seeing on the router screen? the computer's or the VT2442's? should i be using a static or dynamic IP address (i will eventually be forwarding a port for uTorrent client).

Spoke to Vonage customer support in the US. After 2 hrs of being on the phone with them, they determined that my phone adaptor was fried when the power cycled or reset during the upload of the latest firmware. Once that happens, the device cannot be reset. It's essentially useless. They are sending me a new one... Not a very robust piece of hardware....

Where we live we have frequent (unfortunately!) power outages. For months and months the Vonage router (same as yours ... VT2442) rebooted like a charm and our home network was up and running again.

Lately when it boots itself up again, often the power light will blink red as well ... but still works just fine ... but it's always worried me and made me wonder.

Should I be calling Vonage about it (red light = problem) ... or leave it as things appear to be working anyway?

If you want to protect your networking equipment, you need to invest in a good UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
