What kind of experience have people had with number transfer involving verizon in NC?
They seem to be dragging their feet.
Thanks,
Hal |

I am experiencing the same thing with sprint here in the metro area of Minnesota. Sprint denied my initial request because of some lame excuse. Who can I file a complaint against Sprint too? Does the FCC or someone have a consumer complaint dept.? Something like the better business bureau? |

Complaining to the state utility board will not do any good, as they are not a public utility company, complaining to the FCC will help, I have done that.

I heard from some neighbors that it took 30 business days to transfer from verizon. Vonage wrote and and told me that they would credit me for my Vonage fees form after the first 20 business days untill the transfer happens.
That seems reasonable.

I have been waiting over 3 months for my number to be transfered from MCI in Raleigh NC. I have not heard (From Vonage) on why it is taking so long either. |

Learned something today and want to share it with you. All of us as of November 2002 have been paying a portability surcharge. This allows for administrative cost for the porting of telephone numbers. Though all numbers by the major carriers(Verizon, MCI, SBC, etc.) by law and carriers a fine. But since Vonage is not a carrier and relies on 3rd party company(s) for service the limitation is due to the Vontage carriers. I have been trying to find out the mechanics of what's involved in porting numbers with no sucess. |

July 10, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization July 12, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received July 13, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I would call Vonage 1-866-243-4357 option 2 and 2. Tell your situation to the analyst, get a ticket escalated to check out the status of your number port.
In my case, the request was submitted to the carrier but my paperwork was not processed.
After you get the ticket #, give them a few days to respond. If you hear nothing, call back give the analyst the ticket # and then ask to speak to a supervisor. Of course, get his/her name and deal with them on future followup calls.
Good Luck! |
