Have ordered Vonage service, have been trying via multiple hours on phone with tech support to configure VT2142 router with Trango broadband equipment installed by my ISP, still not able to get it working. Anyone else out there have this going on?

Looks to me that Trango Broadband is a Wireless Internet Service Provider...first time I've ever heard of...

Your best bet is to contact Trango... Which wireless access systems do you have? Do you have a Access5830 or [/url=http://www.trangobroadband.com/products/m2400s.shtml]M2400S[/url] or M900S?

For those who've never heard of Trango, visit the Trango Broadband Wireless website.

But yes, please post technical details that are detailed in the sticky post.

1. My Location: Brownfield, TX
2. ISP: Windstream Type: Satellite
3. Upload: 340 kbps Download: 369 kbps
4. Modem make and model: Not sure, System is M2400S 2.4 GHz Access Point by Trango broqadband wireless
5. Vonage adapter: Motorola VT2142
6. Setup of Network : Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
7. Issue: No connectivity with phone or PC to internet
8. Run this Voip Test: Tried running the test, but after 30 minutes gave up on it ever finishing. Maybe it's because the Voip system is not working?

Also, my husband thinks he has it narrowed down to a cabling problem. Is this a possible answer?

First, before you use VT2142, you'll need to turn off the M2400S and back on, wait 30 seconds, connect your VT2142 to M2400S, plug it on, wait 30 seconds, and after that, you may need to configure your VT2142 to work with M2400S but just try and see if it works before you contact Trango.

Thank you for your advice. Vonage tech support has already walked me through that same series of steps several times, unfortunately to no avail. I do not have plans at this point to contact Trango, due to the fact that their website seems directed to ISPs and not retail customers.

There are a couple of isssue to work here. First, the Voip test. Since you say that you don't have internet service with the VT2142 plugged into the system, I assume you tried this with it left out, which is fine. Check and make sure that you have the latest version of Java installed on your computer. If it still doesn't work, then try an alternate test at www.testyourvoip.com (test call to Boston).

Now, on to the connectivity issue. The proper cabling is from the modem to the WAN (internet) port on the VT2142, and from the LAN port on the VT to the ethernet port on your computer. If that's the way it's cabled, are you able to log onto the VT2142 admin page at http://192.168.15.1 ? If not, check out the network configuration of your computer and tell us what you see there. We particularly need to know whether you're using static or dynamic (DHCP) IP addressing.

Now this part you're not going to want to hear, but very few people get good Voip results with satelliite systems. The delays are just too great. However, you've already got the equipment, so let's see what we can do.

Thank you everyone so much for your help. I had a friend come by tonight that is an expert at electronics and such and within 5 minutes had it working, much to my chagrin. Oh well. I've already been using it, and despite the glitches, am happy because I've been using cell phone service only anyway for 4 years now, and this is much less expensive.

Again, thank you. It's moving to find people out there really are willing to help.
